Latin America 2018-19 brochure out now
THE ALLURE OF LATIN AMERICA
WITH LATIN AMERICA EASIER TO REACH THAN EVER, COX & KINGS LAUNCHES ITS 2018 BROCHURE WITH NEW TOURS AND MORE SUGGESTIONS FOR FAMILY TRAVEL

The launch of British Airways’ new direct flights to Peru, Chile and Costa Rica, along with the continent’s first luxury overnight train, have helped increase bookings to Latin America over the past year: numbers in the past three months alone have grown by 30% compared to the same time last year. Cox & Kings, which celebrates its 260th anniversary in 2018, has launched two new escorted tours to the region as well as increasing suggestions for family holidays and private tours.
Peru remains one of Cox & Kings’ bestselling destinations and the Train to Machu Picchu escorted tour is its bestselling escorted tour to South America, with confirmed bookings already up 40% on 2016. The 16-day / 14-night tour is priced from £2,995 per person and includes an overnight stay on the luxury Belmond Andean Explorer train.
Cox & Kings’ Latin America product manager Vessela Baleva says, “Latin America has long been a favourite destination for Cox & Kings clients, and I’m delighted that the new flights have helped to encourage even more people to visit. For 2018 we are introducing new escorted tours that combine countries, allowing people to see as much as possible in one trip: improvements in domestic flight connections have meant that it’s easier to create multi-country itineraries. Our team of experts in the UK travel regularly to the region and there’s very little that they can’t recommend or arrange.”
NEW: Conquistadores, Incas and Islands: Taking advantage of new flight connections from Bogota direct into Cuzco, this new group tour starts in Peru’s Sacred Valley before visiting Machu Picchu and then Lima, avoiding an extra domestic flight. The second half of the tour is in Ecuador, staying in Quito for two nights and then a 4-night cruise around the Galapagos islands. The 16-day / 13-night escorted tour is priced from £4,795 per person.
NEW: Peru: A luxury rail journey is a private tour of Peru that stays in luxury and character accommodation throughout and includes a 2-night journey from Cuzco to Arequipa on the Belmond Andean Explorer. The tour includes an overnight stay at Machu Picchu as well as two nights in the Sacred Valley. The 11-day / 9-night tour is from £3,495 per person.
NEW: Journey through the Andes: This new escorted discovery tour travels through Chile, Bolivia and Peru discovering dramatic altiplanic scenery and traditional cultures including the Atacama desert and Uyuni salt flats; Lake Titicaca, the legendary birthplace of the Incas; and finally the ancient sites of the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. The 19-day / 16-night escorted tour is priced from £3,995 per person.
NEW: CHILE: Since the launch in January 2017 of the direct flights from London to Santiago, Cox & Kings has seen bookings on its Splendours of Chile escorted tour increase by almost 60% compared to the same period in 2016. The 15-day / 12-night escorted tour is from £3,695 per person. New for 2018 is Essence of Chile, a private tour exploring the country’s extremes: the world’s driest desert in the north and the remote wilds of Patagonia in the south. The 12-day / 9-night private tour is from £3,895 per person.
NEW: FAMILY TRAVEL: Created especially for families seeking adventure and discovery without compromising comfort and peace of mind, Cox & Kings has increased its suggestions for exploring Latin America as a family. Three new itineraries to Peru, Mexico and Ecuador have been created with experiences that aim to inspire and excite all generations.
In Peru, explore the catacombs under Lima, cycle around Miraflores stopping for ice cream and dessert along the way, and make chocolate and ceramics in the Sacred Valley. Young wildlife enthusiasts can also help researchers in the Amazon collect insects and data from camera traps. In the Galapagos, Cox & Kings suggests snorkelling with sea lions and green turtles as well as trekking across the volcanic islands. In Mexico, it’s possible to swim in the clear waters of cenotes and go to Mexican wrestling matches, whilst the tropical forests of Costa Rica are perfect for some zip lining. Costa Rica Family Adventure is a 12-day / 10-night private tour from £2,095 per person.
